HEALTHY HABITS DURING FLU SEASON

DURING FLU SEASON YOU SHOULD:

  1. Get the flu vaccination as soon as it becomes available for the 2026-2027 season.

NOTE: PRESCHOOL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED BY NJ LAW TO BE VACCINATION FOR THE FLU BY NOVEMBERE 30TH. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOUR CHILD BEING EXCLUDED FROM SCHOOL UNTIL MARCH 31ST OR UNTIL VACCINATED.
Preschool students, please provide documentation of the flu vaccination BEFORE November 25th to allow recording in the student's file before Thanksgiving break.

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly and often with soap and water for at least 20-30 seconds. Practice proper hand hygiene at home with your child. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  2. Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue or the crease of your elbow when a tissue is not readily available.
  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  4. Avoid close contact with sick people.
  5. If your child has flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, etc) please keep your child home and have them evaluated by their physician.

NOTE: IF YOUR CHILD HAS A FEVER OF 100.0F OR HIGHER, YOUR CHILD MUST REMAIN HOME UNTIL FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS WITHOUT THE USE OF FEVER REDUCING MEDICATION. IF YOUR CHILD HAS DIARRHEA OR VOMITING, YOUR CHILD MUST REMAIN HOME UNTIL THEY ARE FREE OF VOMITING AND DIARRHEA FOR 24 HOURS WITHOUT THE USE OF MEDICATION.

  1. If your child tests positive for the flu or any other contagious illnesses (COVID, Strep, etc), please report the diagnosis to me promptly to allow for proper interventions to prevent further spread of illness.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students and staff healthy this school year!
